NaturWelten at Landesmuseum Hannover
This is one of my favorite smaller aquarium collections.
Entry is around 5 euros, and everything feels properly done: clean tanks, good lighting, and habitat-based setups. It’s a small collection, but focused and professional, very much a museum rather than a decorative aquarium.
From a species collector perspective, this place is surprisingly overlooked. They keep several rare taxa, including some not held by any other European zoo or aquarium, which alone makes it worth a visit.
For me, the aquarium section is clearly the strongest part. It’s compact but well presented, with clear displays that make it easy to actually observe the animals. The focus is more on ecosystems than on sheer species numbers, which I appreciate.
The terrarium area is fine and modern, but secondary for me compared to the aquariums.
Not a place for huge species lists, but if you care about quality over quantity, uncommon species, and a scientific presentation, this is a solid stop for the price.
