Zoo Zlín-Lešná
This is one of those zoos I’d heard about for many, many years, but never had the chance to visit. I was in Czechia the year before as well, but decided it was too far out of the way compared to everything else we had planned, so I postponed it.
One year later, I finally made it here.
And honestly, it did not disappoint.
This is a very, very nice zoo, and easily one of the best I’ve visited. The park is large, beautifully laid out, and clearly designed with both animals and visitors in mind. The themed areas flow naturally into each other, the paths are pleasant to walk, and the enclosures feel spacious and well integrated into the landscape.
From a species collector perspective, it’s also strong, with a good mix of common favorites and less frequently kept species. Combined with the overall quality of the park, it makes for a zoo where you actually want to take your time rather than rush through.
However, I’ve never seen this many visitors in any other zoo. It was honestly crazy. In some areas you could barely move, which definitely affected the experience at times.
Even so, for me this was absolutely worth the detour, and it goes straight onto my personal top list. If you’re traveling in Czechia and can fit it into your route, this is one I’d strongly recommend.
