Botanischer Garten Dresden
I visited Botanischer Garten Dresden with two main goals. I wanted to see their botanical collection, but mainly I was there for their aquarium sections, which are known for keeping some quite interesting fish.
The botanical garden itself is pleasant to walk through. It has a calm, educational feel, and the plant displays are well maintained. If you are interested in botanical collections, greenhouses and a relaxed atmosphere, this part works well.
Unfortunately, the aquarium section was closed during my visit. What made this especially frustrating is that there was no information about this anywhere online beforehand. No notice on their website, no warning on social media, nothing. Since I was already in the area, I returned a few days later, hoping it would be open then, but it was still closed.
I messaged them to ask about the aquarium section, but never received a reply. Only after I contacted them did they add a short notice on their website stating that the aquarium section was temporarily closed. It is good to know that it is not permanently closed, but this information should really have been available before planning a visit.
Because of this, I was not able to see the part of the garden I was most looking forward to. That was disappointing, especially since I planned my visit specifically around the fish exhibits. The lack of clear communication affected my overall experience more than the closure itself.
In summary, Botanischer Garten Dresden is a nice botanical garden, but if you are visiting mainly for the aquarium section, I strongly recommend checking very carefully in advance and making sure it is actually open. I would still like to return in the future to finally see the aquarium collection, but only once I know for sure that it is accessible.
