botanika
I visited botanika during the Niedersächsische Zootage, which meant free entry. That already made the visit feel a lot more relaxed, and it also helped put the overall experience into perspective.
Botanika is very clearly a place where plants come first. The greenhouse areas are large, lush and well done, with big trees, dense vegetation and really nice scenery. Walking through the different sections feels immersive and calm, and visually it is easily the strongest part of the visit. If you are interested in plants and greenhouse collections, this alone makes Botanika quite enjoyable.
The animal collection is more basic, but still nice. It feels very much like a supporting element rather than the main focus. There is nothing particularly rare or unexpected, but the animals fit well into the planted environments and do not feel out of place. It works best if you see the animals as part of the overall atmosphere rather than something you visit specifically to tick species.
For me personally, I am not sure I would pay full price just to see the animal collection. But Botanika is not really meant to be visited only for that. It is a place you go to if you are interested in both plants and animals, with a clear emphasis on plants.
Overall, I really liked Botanika. It is a very pleasant place to walk through, especially if you enjoy large greenhouses and scenic displays. With the right expectations, it is absolutely worth a visit.
